Saskatoon – Today POS Bio-Sciences and three partner organizations, the Saskatchewan Food Processors Association, J. V. Cross Associates and Bridge Strategies, Inc., announced they will contribute five hundred dollars ($500) each toward Eugen and Igor Balzer’s research trip to Vietnam.
In their second year of studies Eugen (Finance) and Igor (Management) come highly recommended from the University of Saskatchewan. They conceived of the trip with one of their professors and the research program later received the support of The Hanlon Center for International Business Studies; who will also contribute two thousand ($2,000) dollars toward the trip.
Their research program is expected to take them to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to explore consumer consumption behavior of beef, pork, chicken, chick peas and wheat within the local community.
“Southeast Asia has been one of the main drivers of global economic growth. Vietnam, being one of the rising stars in the region, had…an increase of 13.5% on imported goods” in 2013 notes their Research Proposal.
As Saskatchewan continues to see export growth, markets like Vietnam offer the opportunity for continued and sustained export growth of value-added products. The data resulting from Eugen and Igor’s research is expected to help food exporters better anticipate Viet-Nam’s needs in the coming years.
