Commercializing Native Fruits of Saskatchewan

Rick Green, Ph.D. and Vice-President Technology for POS Bio-Sciences, has recently been involved in a study examining fresh approaches to the commercialization of native fruits to Saskatchewan. This study is published in the October 16, 2013, edition of the Canadian Journal of Plant Science. The study looks mainly at development of buffalo berry, chokecherry and sea buckthorn and the potential to make these fruits commercially viable for consumption all over the world. Short Path Distillation (SPD) Ready in 2014

POS has extensive experience with a bench scale SPD systems however our ability to offer commercial services has been limited. This hurdle will be overcome in January 2014. The SPD technology involves the distillation of a substance in thin-film, liquid form under high vacuum and condensation of the resulting fractions.
