R & D Technician

POS requires a Technician to assist in the Research and Development area of the Laboratory Services team. Candidates should possess a diploma in Chemical Technology, Biological Sciences or a related degree.

Responsibilities include: Working with our Project Leaders to develop, implement and troubleshoot laboratory scale processing models for subsequent transition to mini-pilot and pilot scale production. You will support analysis to monitor these processes as well as raw material and finished product quality.

Experience in a laboratory environment, data management and attention to detail is required, a mechanical aptitude is an asset.

Analytical Technician

POS Bio-Sciences, located in Saskatoon, is a confidential contract research organization for grams-to-tons process and product development.  We are devoted to helping companies fast track the development of superior new products and technologies using cost effective methods.  POS specializes in extraction, fractionation, purification and modification of biologically derived materials.  Bioprocessing industries served include food and ingredients, fats, oils and lipids, nutraceuticals and functional foods, ag biotech, animal and functional feeds, cosmetics, and fragrances.

POS requires an experienced technician with a strong background in HPLC (however experience in GC, GC-MS and LC-MS would be considered an asset) to assist in the instrumental area of the Laboratory Services team.  An undergraduate degree in a chemistry based discipline is required.  Candidates with a degree/diploma in a related discipline will be considered based on relevant experience/abilities.

Responsibilities include:  sample preparation, instrumental analysis using chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques, statistical methodology, method implementation/development and staff training. 

Experience with chromatography data systems, data and word processing and attention to quality results is required, a mechanical aptitude is an asset.

Accounting / Payroll Clerk

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be responsible for processing, tracking and preparing statistical, financial and accounting reports for both pilot plant and laboratory projects.  You will coordinate, process and administer payroll, pension and securities.  You will process, verify and reconcile financial records and business transactions and be responsible for month end procedures, account reconciliations, customer billing, bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis. 

 

The ideal candidate will be working towards a professional accounting designation with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.  You have a strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational and multi-tasking abilities and the ability to prioritize is imperative. Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills as well as superb verbal and written communication skills are required.  You will have intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software, along with experience in ADP payroll and Crystal reporting which would be considered an asset.
