Saskatoon – Team members of POS Bio-Sciences (POS) will be traveling to Haiti in mid-November to add their expertise to a local moringa farmer’s initiative developed by the Smallholder Farmers Alliance (SFA) (http://www.smallholderfarmersalliance.org/).

Other partners in the initiative include:

     The Clinton Foundation (https://www.clintonfoundation.org/),
      Kuli Kuli (https://www.kulikulifoods.com/) and,
     Whole Foods (http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/)

SFA, Co-Founder and President, Hugh Locke is originally from Rosetown, Saskatchewan and as his organizations’ project in Haiti progressed, he reached back to friends and contacts in Saskatchewan – including POS Chairman John Cross. This connection led to discussions on how POS’s value-added processing expertise might help the farmers and the all-female processing organization.

“We are delighted that POS Bio-Sciences will be working with us to maximize the potential of smallholder farmers in Haiti as we develop the moringa tree as an export crop. What is particularly valuable is the opportunity to apply world-class science to small-scale family farms that average about four acres”, explained Mr. Locke.

POS Bio-Sciences is a contract R&D organization. We specialize in the extraction, fractionation, modification and purification of bio-based ingredients. We work with leading industries to develop new products and expand bio-processing capacity. From ingredients to bio-products to green solutions, our team brings bench strength and brilliant solutions to help companies grow.
